Seven Simple Steps To Eating Clean

“Eating Clean” may sound boring to you, but that is probably because you have not been going by the right principles for you. So here are seven of the principles to eating clean for you. These principles are based on studied nutrition sciences and many recommendations made by health magazines. These will greatly help to maximize your energy levels throughout the day and lead you to the best health that you can possibly have. These seven principles can be adapted in any way that you see best fit to be set in place in your daily routines.


When thinking of starting to eat clean. You may wonder what types of food to be purchasing at the grocery store. Well you should be purchasing foods that are, natural and are not processed. If you are unsure of what a processed food item actually is, it is anything that is boxed, in a bag, in a can, or in the frozen isle. Those are things to stay away from. The totality of your foods should be fresh and natural. By staying away from processed and frozen foods alone, that can change you health state tremendously and be the start to your clean eating journey.


When preparing your meals, never leave out any of the main food groups. At every meal make sure you get some sort of protein, carb, and fat. Don’t ever eat to much or not enough of any of those things. That could hinder your health. You may think that it is weird to eat a protein with breakfast, but it is something that you need to act as a driving force for your body. It's important to get some sort of protein at every meal.


Make sure and eat as much “unrefined” foods as possible. If you are not sure what that means, it means foods such as, brown rice and quinoa. Beans can also be a key ingredient to your diet at well. Types of clean sugars are also good as well. If you don’t know what that is it is things like honey, and dehydrated cane juices.


Be careful when taking in fats, salts, and sugars. If you take in too much of that it can hurt you in the long run. If you cut out those processed foods then you are cutting out most of the fats, salts, and the sugars. So if you can manage to do that then you are doing good.


You should try and eat five to six small meals throughout the day. If you think that is a lot, it really breaks down to the three meals that you would normally eat. It just gives your body more time to get over what you have eaten and use the energy to keep you at a healthy metabolism. By eating like this it keeps you from overeating or not eating enough.


Never drink your calories. That just tacks on unneeded calories throughout the day. Even if you think that you aren’t drinking something that has too many calories always check.


And to top it all off, make sure you are active. Though you may think that just eating healthy is good enough, it is not. You have to be active to burn off the food that you are eating and to keep yourself healthy.

Eating More Frequent Smaller Meals Throughout The Day

Why is eating more meals of small portions better than not eating at all or eating 3 big meals throughout the day? Well when eating 6 small meals everyday it helps to keep yourself at a healthy metabolism that you may not get when you eat 3 big spaced out meals throughout the day. Eating nothing at all, though it might sound like it would help you lose weight it is not at all good for you. It keeps you at a slow unhealthy metabolism, that will actually decrease your weight lose instead of helping you to lose weight. When you don’t eat anything, it is actually doing more harm to your body than good.

Now, you may think that 6 meals everyday is a lot of food that you would be consuming. But in reality it is about the same amount when you take into consideration the smaller portions as if you had been eating 3 big meals everyday. The 6 small meals are not full meals. They are just enough to sustain yourself and to keep your body healthy and at a regular metabolism. Usually when you do this, you eat every 3 to 4 hours throughout the day. You want to always try to get in some type of vegetable or fruit with your meals. In the long run, this is the healthiest way for your body to keep healthy metabolism and to lose weight.

So, here are the tips about how much and when to eat each of you meals. Don’t wait hours after you wake up in the mornings to eat your breakfast. Within one hour of when you wake up eat your breakfast. Continue to eat every three hours, but make sure and not eat three hours before you go to bed. If you eat that close to bed, you will decrease your appetite for when you wake up in the morning. And in turn when you don’t eat that close to when you are going to sleep, you actually without knowing it increase your energy levels thus making you more productive throughout your day. This also, is a much better way to burn off fat and it actually increases your chances of gaining more muscle and losing less.

When you are thinking of each meal though, you should not make each meal big and more than a few hundred calories. Eating smaller more frequent meals, does not mean eating in between those meals though. Don’t continue to graze after you have gotten in your allotted meals for the day. Especially if it is close to when your are going to bed.

I recommend trying this for a short time, and seeing if this type of a lifestyle change is for you. It does take some planning to do, since you are going to have to take the meals out with you throughout the day.

Gender Categorized Food*

In society many things are gender categorized, even when we may not realize it. Things that we may not even think can be categorized for a specific gender are. One of the things today that people are finding out is gender categorized is foods. And many people when hearing that wonder how can something such as good be specific to one gender, when both male and female have to eat food and normally are eating the same types of foods.


Image result for food packaged for different gendersI recently read an article that was titled “ Yogurt Is For Women, Fried Chicken Is For Men” this article explains exactly how things such as food can be gender specific. In the article it talks about how when thinking of foods most people don’t think of women sitting down and thinking, “ I want to eat fried chicken” they say that when thinking of what a women might eat, they think of yogurt. They say that they think that way because, on yogurt containers there is sometimes ballerinas on them and a male would not pick that up to think that it is something appetizing. They did a study where they took the exact same blueberry muffins and packaged them differently; The feminine package was labeled “healthy” with the picture of  ballerina on the package, the masculine package was labeled “mega” with a picture of a man playing football on the front of it, and the mixed-gender was labeled with both the “healthy” and the “mega” labels on them. It was very shocking to find out that the people who received the mixed-gender packaging said that they did not like the taste of the muffins, while they were the exact same muffins in the other two packages.

I find it very shocking that people stereotype the foods that are out on the shelves. I heard someone say in class, that if they were watching a TV commercial and there was an attractive girl sitting on a motorcycle eating a big hamburger, that it would make them want to have a hamburger right then. I think that shows the types of stereotypes that companies put out so that they can get the buyers that they want. And another commercial would be for say, a dove chocolate commercial for women, and they are eating the chocolate in slow motion to make it look more appetizing. I think that things like that need to change as to show the new generations that it is okay not to have a gender stereotype of things even things as small and the foods that we consume.

6 Tips To Eating Healthier*


Eating healthy is not as hard as it seems, or as hard as people make it out to be. It just takes a lot of determination to wanting to live a healthier lifestyle through your eating. But you do have to have the right mindset to be able to do it. You can’t let yourself think that it's okay to eat one healthy meal a day and the rest can be whatever you want. That will never work. So, here are some tip to help you in starting to eat your healthier diet.

When you go into the grocery store try and stay on the outskirts of the store while doing your shopping. This is where you are going to find everything essential for starting a healthy diet and getting your healthy foods. Avoid the middle aisles at all costs that is where you are going to pick up the junk that you do not need. If you think about it the fruits and veggies, meats, dairy, and deli fresh products are all on the outskirts of the stores.


  1. Eat More White Meats: I know that you have heard this before, it is really common in most diets to eat white meat instead of red meats. That is because it has more healthy proteins and less fats.



  1. Don’t Drink Your Calories: When you are thinking of your calorie intake you may not know that drinking your calories is not good for you. These new fad diets where you are drinking shakes are not as healthy or you as they may seem. Drinking your calories makes it hard for you to burn them, then if you were just eating them.

Always make sure that you have one, they are key when trying to eat a healthy clean diet. When you go in without a list you have a tendency to just grab and go but then you get home and realize nothing you have bought is either not healthy, or you have nothing to actually make a meal with.








  1. Never Go Anywhere Hungry: Don’t ever leave your house hungry. When you do, you have a tendency to just grab whatever is the closest or the easiest. And those things may not be what is healthy. Always leave healthy foods in your car incase you accidentally leave the house hungry.





6. Meal Prepping: Prep all your meals the night before or even at the beginning of the week. This way you never get in a pinch and you always have the healthy and rights food to eat for each day. And this is a good way to keep yourself accountable for what you are eating. Meal prepping can help so much in your everyday life.

Video Blog: The first steps in clean eating

This video blog is a very helpful video for first time “Clean Eaters”, it has all of the essential information that you need when first starting out. It is very helpful when you are first starting out to know exactly what to purchase when you are going to the grocery store and trying to buy the right foods. A little tip is if you go to the grocery store stay away from the middle isles. If you can shop on the outside of the store you will get the healthiest foods in the store.  


Image result for clean eating 101Like said in the video, before you go to the grocery store make a list of the things that you are going to need. Not just a list of; I need apples, bananas, milk, and chicken. But a list that has categories such as, protein, fruits, veggies, and maybe carbs. Everyone knows that when you get into the grocery store it is very easy to just grab something easy to eat on the way home as a snack, but most of the things that you are going to grab are not going to be something that is good for you. Food for thought, as everyone knows and as the video says “ never go to the grocery store hungry.” Also, never go to the grocery store without a list, that causes you to just do the “grab and go” and you normally end up with things that you don’t need and that are not with you diet. Lists are the best thing for you when you are going into a grocery store and shopping for healthy foods for the first time.


For beginner “clean eaters” they may think that it cost to much to eat healthy and to get the foods that they need, but it is not always that expensive. If you make yourself a list and as you are going through the store you can make sure that you only get what is on the list. If you can stick to your list you can manage a budget and it won’t be as expensive.


Watching this video I learned things that I did not know before watching. I never thought of on my list putting something like I am buying bananas to use in my smoothies. But that is a good idea because then you know what you bought it to use for and it won’t go to waste. Also, I learned that you should not drink your calories. I mean, I knew that drinking soda and juice was bad but I never knew that if you were getting your calories from something you can drink, that it was not as good as from a food, I just thought that calories were calories and that they were the same no matter where they came from.

Eating The Right Way

Clean eating is a very controversial subject with many people. In the article that I read they are trying to say that you might as well become a vegan with the minimal items that you are allowed to eat. That is not at all true. When you begin a clean eating diet, they have you start out by doing a cleanse and flushing your body of all the toxins that may be built up in your body making it hard for you to lose weight and to become more healthy. But once you are done with the one or two day clease you can basically eat any fruits you want in moderation and any vegetables that you want. You also are aloud to eat white meats and fish. And if I am right vegans aren’t allowed to eat any of those things. White meats consist of chicken, and turkey. And if you feel the need to eat red meat, make sure that it is extra lean.

One thing about this article that they say that I believe is true is that sometimes by entering into a clean eating lifestyle and habit, you can sometimes eliminate the possibility of having to take medications for illnesses. Say, you have high blood pressure as mentioned, you could just start eating a little bit more healthy and over time your body could get use to the way that you have been eating and your blood pressure could start to gradually decrease over that time.

So, in my opinion clean eating is something that is good for your body. I don’t see where it is harmful to your body, or even where it is like being a vegan. You basically have free range to eat whatever you want as long as you do it in moderation and don’t go over the top with unhealthy items.

Better Your Eating Habits By Reading This Info-graphic

infographic.pngAn info-graphic is a digital representation that uses elements of something to tell you about what you are looking into. So for example my blog topic is on clean eating, so when I went to look for an info-graphic I typed in “Clean Eating Info-graphic”, and then a bunch of different ones popped up. The reason I chose the one that I did is because I felt that it related better to the things that I am talking about on my blog. It talks about not eating processed foods, eating more raw vegetables, and drinking more fluids. Those are the things that really relate to my blogs.  


The info-graphic that I picked out tells you ways to make your eating more clean. It gives you six simple steps to make your diet healthier and a good example of clean eating.


Some of the things that the clean eating info-graphic tells you is that you should avoid processed food and that you should eat more at home. If you are going to need a “fast food meal” that day, take some fruit or vegetables, those can be used as good substitutes when you are on the go and need a fast meal. It also tells you to eat more raw greens, they are very good for your body.


I felt that this info-graphic related well to my blog because my blog is on good ways to eat clean, hints the name of the info-graphic “Clean eating basics”. It demonstrates well the things that I bring up on my blog.

Looking at this, it gives you a lot of other ways that also are a very effective ways to change your diet. It says that you should eat more natural fats, and that you should eat less protein. Eating too much protein is not always the answer to a good diet. Also, if you think that taking gluten out of your diet when you don’t have an intolerance to it is also not a good option. If you are not allergic to it, you should not cut it out of your diet completely in some ways it is good for you.

It also gives a very good statement. Most people think that it is good to cut down on how much that you eat, but that is not always the option. Eating like a “squirrel” is not good for you. It is not good to starve yourself, and it is not a diet.

I think that this info-graphic is a very good thing to check out. It taught me a lot just by reading it!

Have you ever thought about making the change from regular cooking oils to Coconut Oil? Coconut Oil is a great oil substitute when you are cooking food. I first started using it 3 years ago, when my mom and I had learned about it through a diet we were starting. Many people may think they do not know how to use Coconut Oil, but it is very simple. Whenever a recipe calls for vegetable or all purpose cooking oil you would just use the Coconut Oil instead. For me and my family we use it when cooking chicken or vegetables, and also when we are baking. It is just a more all natural organic way to cook healthy foods. Coconut Oil can be found in any store that sells groceries or other types of cooking oils. It is even in the same department or isle.

So if you are trying to eat healthier or to cleanse your body of all the bad oils you many be putting into your body through foods, just try and use Coconut Oil. It is just a simple fix and change to your diet and you will be eating a little bit healthier every time that you use the Coconut Oil. And if you have ever thought I don’t know how I can change my diet to make it healthier, well here is a great start and an easy change.

Mediterranean Diet Helps To Strengthen Our Bones


As everyone knows dieting is not always healthy for your body or in some cases for your life. Diets can deprive your body of the essential nutrients your body needs to keep your bones from becoming frail, and to keep your mind strong while you are aging. A new study of the Mediterranean Diet shows that it is a healthy way to stop inflammation, and reduce the rate of bone loss in people with osteoporosis.

Image result for mediterranean dietThe Mediterranean Diet consists of plant based foods such as: vegetables, fruits, fish, whole grains, and legumes. You also are allowed to eat healthy fats from olive oils and nuts. Some animal proteins are allowed as long as they are eaten in moderation and not every day. Red meats are allowed as long as they are eaten sparingly and in moderation. Don't worry though if you are a chocolate lover you are aloud to eat dark chocolate as long as you don't go over board, once a day won't hurt you.

In 2012 a study was performed by, The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism. This study involved 127 Hispanic men who had low bone formation, they were told to start the Mediterranean Diet high in virgin olive oil, they consumed about ¼ cup per day. As a result of this study the men were found to have increased their levels of osteocalcin. Osteocalcin is an important factor in the formation of bones. Another study was performed by the JAMA Internal Medicine, found that women who strictly followed the Mediterranean Diet had a lower risk of hip fractures. They say that this is due to the antioxidants and the anti-inflammatory benefits of the Mediterranean Diet.

So, if you are ever worried about the strength of your bones decreasing and breaking easily and you don’t want to take vitamins or supplements the Mediterranean Diet is a great way to strengthen your bones by just a quick change in your diet.
